Why do I wake up with a flat tummy but look "6 months pregnant" by dinner?
Jeans tight by 4 PM? You didn't gain weight in a day. Learn the difference between bloating vs belly fat, why raw salads might be the cause, and the simple Indian home remedy to fix it.

Picture this scenario:
It’s 8:00 AM. You wake up, look in the mirror, and feel good. Your stomach is relatively flat, you feel light, and you think, "Okay, today is going to be a good day."
But by 4:00 PM? Your jeans are digging into your waist. You are secretly undoing the top button while sitting at your desk. You feel heavy, sluggish, and if someone poked your stomach, it would feel hard as a rock.
I hear this story in my clinic every single day.
Most women panic and think, "Oh no, I gained weight today." So, they skip dinner or punish themselves with a dry salad the next day.
Stop.
You did not gain 2 kgs of fat in 8 hours. That is biologically impossible. What you are experiencing is Bloating. And the way you are trying to fix it (eating less, eating raw) might actually be making it worse.
The "Food Baby" is Real. Here is Why.

When clients come to me with this issue, especially in winter, the culprit is rarely "overeating." It is usually poor digestion.
Your stomach is like a fire (Agni). It needs heat to break down food. When that fire is weak, food doesn't digest—it ferments. That fermentation creates gas, and that gas expands your stomach like a balloon.
Here are the 3 main reasons your "fire" is dying out:
1. You are eating "Cold" in a "Cold" Season
In the quest to be healthy, we have been brainwashed to believe that a bowl of raw salad is the ultimate health food.
But right now, it is winter in Delhi. Your body is already working hard to stay warm. When you throw cold, raw cucumbers and lettuce into a system that is craving warmth, you are effectively throwing water on your digestive fire. The Fix: Stop the raw salads for now. Switch to steamed veggies, warm soups, or lightly sautéed greens. Your gut loves warmth.
2. You are "Swallowing" Air (Stress Eating)
Be honest: Do you eat lunch while typing an email? Do you scroll through Instagram while eating dinner? When you eat in a state of stress or distraction, you don't chew. You gulp.
You are swallowing massive amounts of air along with your Roti. Plus, when you are stressed, your body shuts down digestion to focus on "survival." That expensive, healthy organic meal you just ate? It’s sitting in your stomach like a stone because your brain didn't tell your stomach to digest it.
3. The "Low Acid" Myth
We all pop antacids (Eno, Digene) the moment we feel heavy, thinking we have "acidity."
But ironically, many of my clients have Low Stomach Acid (Hypochlorhydria). You need acid to break down proteins. If your acid is low, that Dal or Paneer sits there, rotting and creating gas. The Fix: This is exactly why I recommend Kanji (fermented carrot drink) or a simple ginger pickle (Adrak) before meals. It jumpstarts your natural acid production.

So, what do I do today?
If you are reading this feeling bloated right now, here is your emergency exit plan:
Stop the Raw: No raw fruit or salad after 4 PM.
The CCF Magic: Boil 1 tsp each of Cumin (Jeera), Coriander (Dhaniya), and Fennel (Saunf) in water. Strain and sip it warm. It works faster than most pills.
Chew Your Water: Don't gulp water with your meals. Sip it slowly.
Bloating isn't just "annoying" - it is your body’s way of shouting for help. It’s a sign that your gut bacteria are unhappy or your hormones (Cortisol) are out of balance.
You don't have to live with the "unbuttoning the jeans" ritual. If you are tired of guessing what triggers your tummy, let’s get to the root of it.
